The Annual European Congress of Rheumatology was held in Nice, France from June 21-24, 2000. this is the official meeting of the European Leagure Against Rheumatism (EULAR). One thousand (1000) scientific abstracts were submitted for the meeting, and 80% of these were accepted for presentation. Only 5% of these were podium presentations; the remainder were presented in poster format. Full abstract reports may be reviewed in the July edition of Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases 59, no. 1 suppl., 2000. While it is not possible to review all of the important findings from these meetings, some selected highlights are summarized below. The majority of these highlights focus on diseases whose predominant manifestation is arthritis (consistent with the mission of this WebSite).
