partial knee replacement

Question  I would like to know about a partial knee replacement. Thank you

Answer  This should be discussed in greater detail with an orthopedic surgeon. Partial knee replacement refers to the repalce only of one compartment of the knee (sucha s the medial or lateral compartment). Many patients are not candidate for these procedures because in most cases, more than one compartment is affected. Also, many patients will require additional surgery because other compartments become affected, often quickly. In my experience, surgeons have varying degrees of enthusiasm for these procedures, in part because they view them as temporizing procedures and patients will eventually require total knee replacement.
