knee replacement

I have heard if you have a knee replacement you will need to have another one in about 10 years,do you find this to be true? I have already had one knee replacement a year ago and I am having another one done on the other knee soon.So I have a lot of concern if this is true.Would it help to be less active to keep the replacement knee's from having to be done again. |

The longevity of the replacements an vary widely, with 10 years often quoted as an average. Obesity worsens outcome. You need to exercise to keep your weight down and to keep the muscles of your legs strong to stabilze the knee and thus protect the replacement. However, activities such as running are not good due to increased stress on the joint. |
