Re: Anti-dna levels over 1000

Question  Does anti-ds dna of 85 and ana of 1:160 mean that I have lupus? I also have anti-thyroid antibodies and have had transverse myelitis in the past year. My spinal tap is positive for oligoclonal bands. Is this MS? Is this lupus? Is this both?

Answer  You are asking a difficult diagnostic question that I can't answer without seeing you and reviewing your history. In general, high levels of ds-DNA antibodies, particulary in the presence of a positive ANA and low complement levels is very suggestive of the diagnosis of lupus.
