Anti-DNA antibodies

Question  i have an antiDNA value of about 216.i would like to know the normal value and is this harm my health.

Answer

Hi Neethu,

An abnormal lab value never directly hurt anyone.  Seriously, though, this is a high value but it can only be interpreted in light of the patient's symptoms and physical examination and other laboratory values (kidney function, blood counts, etc.).  So, you should ask your doctor why he/she got it, and what it means.  If he/she doesn't know, maybe you had better see a rheumatologist.  Anti-DNA positivity can often mean lupus but some people have these antibodies without any obvious disease.
