ANA test positive, but doctor says not to worry.

Question  My ANA test was 1:180 or positive. I do not have any symptoms. My blood test for arthritis was negative. I have a cousin with lupus, and a parent with temporal arteritis. My question is: should I see a rheumatologist to investigate this further? My primary care doctor said not to worry about the test results.

Answer  I think you mean 1:80. This is a very low value and I agree with your doctor that given your lack of symptoms, this is not a signficant result. But if it makes you feel better to see a rheumatologist, its cheap way for some piece of mind.
