Topical NSAID from recent newsletter

Question  In one of your recent newsletters, there was drug information regarding a topical NSAID medication that proved effective for some type of arthritis. What was important in the article was that it was safe for people who have GI sensitivity to oral NSAIDs. Can you please provide this info again as I have misplaced my newsletter and my doctor is unfamiliar with the topical NSAID drug.

Thank you.

Answer  These are drugs currently only available in Europe and are undergoing study in the U.S. for FDA approval. They are diclofenac (Voltaren) in the form of a gel and spray that is put over the joint and absorbed through the skin.
