Strep Induced Arthritis
If joint pain caused by strep goes away on its own how long does it take and is five months too long to still be in serious pain? |
A reactive arthritis, sometime called Reiter's Syndrome, can occur in response to a streptococcal infection. The inflammatory reaction in the joints is believed to be due to immune complex deposition in, rather than direct infection of, the joints. Reactive arthritis can last 3-12 months in the majority of patients. However, some patients can continue with symptoms beyond 12 months. |
