My doctor took me uric acid test and my level was at 110 is this high or is it possible that i may have arthritis? joe |

Gouty arthritis is caused by uric acid depositing in the joint causing intense inflammation. Uric acid levels can range from 2 to 20 mg/dl. Uric acid stops dissolving in the blood at levels above 7 mg/dl. However, many patients can have uric acid levels above 7 and never have an attack of gout. And gout can occur in some patients who have a uric acid below 7. Overall, the higher the level of uric acid, the greater the chance of having a gout attack. However the diagnosis of gout is made by examination, not by a blood test. |
