Halting damage from arthritis

Question  Can you reverse or stop further damage of arthritis?

Answer

Hi Gabrielle,

Absolutely !!!  Well, let me qualify that.  It depends upon the type of arthritis.  Some of the most destructive types of arthritis - e.g., rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis - can be halted with currently available treatments.  However, for the most common type of arthritis - i.e., osteoarthritis (also called "wear and tear" arthritis or degenerative arthritis) - our treatments only reduce pain but do not prevent further damage.  Researchers are actively working on better treatment for osteoarthritis.
