Do you have to take methotrexate in combination with Remicade? I was wondering because I am looking to possibly have another child in the next two years and I know that methotrexate is category X for pregnancy. |

HI Rosalie, great question. MTX is recommended with Remicade to avoid developing antibodies against Remicade. If these antibodies develop, you may lose response to remicade. In your situation, I would normally switch the patient to Enbrel or Humira. Antibodies don't seem to be as common with these drugs and they don't absolutely require MTX. Good luck !! |
