Joints shared by RA and OA

Question  I have both Osteo and Rheumatoid arthritis. Will the joints affected by osteo, also be invaded by the R. A.?

Answer  Great question, Karen.  They are often confused though, in truth, RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and OA (osteoarthritis) are very very different.  OA affects mainly the hips, knees, base of the thumb, and the great toe (bunion).  RA can affect all of those plus many more joints but RA causes warmth and swelling in the joints, whereas OA usually just causes pain.
