Removal of Spleen

Question  Would you remove the spleen due to low platelette count?

Answer  I'm not sure this is a question for an Arthritis website. There are many causes of low platelet counts, but splenectomy is performed in patients with immune mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP) who do not respond to medications.
