Where Can I Find Treatment?

Question  I am a 27yr old man, and have been suffering from AS for 11 yrs now. I been on several diffent meds including indomethicin, prednisone, and others. None seems to help much.Though my pain seems to have subsided somewhat... my posture is greatly deteriorating as well as my flexibility and movement. Are there any specialists or clinical groups in the Northern IL-Southern WI area that I can contact for new therapies, trials, or support?

Thank You

Answer  Check with your local Arthritis Foundation. There is also a Spondylitis Association. The therapy for AS has improved greatly with the use of TNF inhibitors and you should explore these options with your rheumatologist. You might seek a consultation with one of the large university centers in Chicago such as Northwestern, Rush, University of Illinois, University of Chicago. The Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin also has a large group.
