Ankylosing Spondylitis and Tendonitis

Question  Can you explain how AS and tendonitis go together. I have just been diagnosed with AS and the Dr. said it also explains my wrist tendon and shoulder tendon problems.

Answer  One of the characteristics of anklylosing spondilitis is inflammation where tendons attach to the bone.  This is a condition called enthesitis.  Enthesitis can be painful, especially when it involves tendons in areas frequently used, like the achilles tendon that attaches at the back of the heel.
