Uveitis - what treatment?
|

I have been diagnosed with uveitis. This has gone on for 19 years. Not continues but flareups maybe once a month. I have had all of the tests done, many times. I have been on oral prednisone for over a year now. 10mgs. everyother day. Is there vitimans and herbs that can be used, instead of the prednisone. My next step per my doctore will be methotrexate. I would rather try to control this with vitimans and herbs if possible. |

HI Kathy, We are rheumatologists, not ophthamologists. I would suggest that you get a second opinion from another ophthamologist. However, MTX is commonly used for uveitis. And MTX is generally a very safe drug. We use it all the time to treat rheumatoid arthritis and many other inflammatory conditions. We like it because it is very effective without causing many side effects. We have some patients who have been taking it for 20 years without difficulty. Good luck !! |
