Appointments
- Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University
- Director, Johns Hopkins Rheumatology Clinics
- Director, Johns Hopkins Arthritis Website
Research Interests:
Dr. Bingham’s research interests are focused on identifying pathophysiologic mechanism-based disease phenotypes, which will accelerate the development of targeted therapeutics for inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and osteoarthritis (OA). He clinically trained in both Rheumatology and in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He was initially a laboratory-based investigator evaluating mechanisms of cytokine regulation of eicosanoid biosynthetic pathway enzymes in mast cells, synovial cells, and chondrocytes. He then transitioned to a clinical- translational research focus and has been an investigator in more than 35 Phase I-IV clinical trials of biological and nonbiological therapeutic agents for the treatment of RA, PsA, OA, and chronic autoimmune urticaria. These have included the NIH-Glucosamine Arthritis Interventional Trial, and the largest study to date of a disease-modifying therapy for OA.
